As part of Fairtrade Fortnight 2011, Thanet Fairtrade Initiative hosted a Fairtrade supper at Quex Barn, near Birchington.

Members, guests and VIPs enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the restaurant’s top team of chefs.

This year, we were honoured to have also been joined by Mineo Kageya, director of the Japan in Fairtrade Towns intiative, who flew all the way from Tokyo to join us for Fairtrade Fortnight. Mineo spoke about the growing popularity and awareness of Fairtrade in Japan, gave an introduction to Japanese culture and talked about his new cultural exchange programme, which saw 15 Japanese students spend Fairtrade Fortnight here in Thanet.
